I am the manager of Scotland’s Adoption Register and joined in 2014. I divide my time between this role (2 days per week) and as Executive Director of the Adoption and Fostering Alliance(AFA) Scotland (3 days per week). I qualified as a social worker in 1988 following time spent working in youth projects and in residential child care. Since then I have worked with Barnardos, establishing a residential project for children who had previously been in long stay hospital, and as a family placement worker and then manager of the permanence team at Dundee City Council. For the 10 years before coming to the Adoption Register I was a child care service manager with Angus Council.
I joined the Register as the Senior Practitioner at the end of 2016 part-time. The other half of the week I work for Adoption UK as the lead therapist for TESSA (Therapeutic Education Support Services in Adoption). I completed my postgraduate masters in Social Work at Edinburgh University in 2007 and worked in a Children and Families practice team for 6 years in Edinburgh City Council and Midlothian Council before joining Midlothian’s fostering and adoption team. I also qualified as a family systemic practitioner in 2018. I am an independent panel member for Scottish Adoption.
I am the Administrative Coordinator for Scotland’s Adoption Register. I completed a BA in Journalism in 2010 and worked in various administrative positions for Edinburgh City Council before joining the Register on a temporary basis in 2014.I later worked for Scottish Adoption before re-joining the register in 2015.
