Increasing the number of children in Scotland who are placed for adoption.
Working Together
Scotland’s Adoption Register is an addition to adoption services in Scotland funded initially for 3 years by Scottish Government.
It has 2 major functions:-
- To add an effective Scotland –wide mechanism to existing arrangements for linking children and families for adoption
- To provide facts and figures about adoption sctivity in Scotland
First year aims
- Build a comprehensive database of approved adopters and children needing adoption across Scotland.
- Report regularly on that information.
- Visit all the adoption agencies to discuss effective running of the register and establish lines of communication.
- Develop and put into action procedures for the linking part of the register.
- Lay the foundation for future developments by identifying what is working well and what is needed to improve services.
